No one wants to leave their home, but we found the ideal “new home” at Mary Alva’s Senior Class. Mary and her staff take care of even the smallest details with compassion and care in a clean, safe, and nurturing environment.
We consider Mary and her staff part of our extended family.

Moving my mom from Massachusetts to Oregon last year was a very difficult time at best, but the attention given to her by the caregivers at Senior Class made the transition better than I could have hoped.
I continue to be pleased with the fine care she receives under Mary Alva’s caring attention
We, the Carl Mays family, would like to express our deepest appreciation to Mary Alva and her wonderful staff at the Senior Class Foster Care Center in The Dalles. What could have been a terribly difficult time the last two months became an experience of love and acceptance. Our mother recently passed away after lingering from heart failure. Mary and her staff treated our mother Velma, with loving compassion and dignity. As a family, we too were given tender care and consideration, as were friends who visited.
Thank you Mary Alva for your kindnesses, your vision and your tremendous ability to create a gracious home for your Senior Class.

I can’t tell you what a miracle it was for us to find Senior Class for Gracie. We will always be so grateful for the wonderful, compassionate, caring, and fun place you have made it. It is truly what an Adult Foster Care home should be. The staff is just the best. We dealt mostly with Miracle (she is a miracle) and Tricia (so caring) and they could not have been better. They turn residents into “family” and you can’t ask for anything better than that. Everyone we ever dealt with there was very helpful and thoughtful. We enjoyed each time we visited and will miss the residents so we will be coming to visit now and then.
Thank you for the special touch you bring to everyone’s life. You are a blessing.
If you every have an interested family who would like a reference, please do not hesitate to have them contact us.

It is hard to believe over four years have passed since one of my brothers informed me he had found a wonderful place for our mother to live until she was well enough to return to her own home.
Unfortunately, she did not regain her health and strength as we had hoped. Every day since my mother’s death I have remembered, with profound gratitude, the care and comfort you and all the Senior Class staff provided Mom.
I will never forget you, Colleen, Nicole, and the love, care, compassion and dignity you extended at all times to all for whom you cared. The many kindnesses and love that characterized our experience at Senior Care is always mentioned when my siblings and I are together.
Senior Class was, and remains, a great blessing in our lives, Mary. May God continue to bless you, your staff, and all the fortunate families you so diligently serve.
With gratitude and best wishes always,
We just recently lost our dear Mother, Marguerite Pfaff. She was a resident of Mary Alva’s Senior Class Adult Foster Home for the past 3 1/2 years. This short testimonial can’t begin to give this wonderful home the justice that it is due. It is a beautiful home, the food is delicious and the loving care the residents receive is wonderful. Our son is a Minister and our daughter in law is a Physician Assistant. They are both around care facilities and the elderly a lot and both have said that they have never seen a home as nice as this one. They have visited their Grandma Pfaff there several times and each time are amazed at the quality of care given to the residents.
We feel that we have been truly blessed to have found a home such as this for Mom to live out her last years. She was 97 and a remarkable lady and we know she was truly loved by Mary and her staff. We thank God for Mary, Coleen, Nicole, Susan and Dee for such wonderful care. God bless you as you continue to care for others. We consider you all a part of our family and will continue to drop by and visit you and the residents.

We want to express our gratitude to Mary Alva and her staff, Coleen, Nicole, and Kathy to name a few, for their exemplary care of our mother, Edna Mengis, for the past five years. They have a gift, and we were lucky to find them during our time of turmoil, when Mom had to transition from living alone.
We looked at all kinds of care facilities and decided to put our trust in Mary Alva. She and her staff are everything they said they were, and so much more. Senior Class promotes family atmosphere and we all became members of that family. Whatever Mother’s needs were to keep her happy and healthy were provided. Sometimes that was a very tall order, and it was Mary and her staff who always went the extra mile, from beginning to end.
So, if you are reading this and your family member has had the “event” that is forcing change, please remember our five years of experience. Mary Alva’s Senior Class will give you peace of mind that your family member is in the best place you could ever hope to find. Mary Alva’s Senior Class is the real deal.
The Mengis Family
Mary Alva’s adult foster care provides gracious living. Each resident’s needs are continually assessed and addressed. Each caregiver is compassionate while providing loving assistance. Wonderful meals offer great variety and are prepared with the best and freshest products available. The meals endeavor to meet specific nutritional requirements of each person. We especially appreciate the sensitive attitude of every staff member toward each resident and the homelike, family atmosphere. We never announce our visits in advance and have always found the home and yard to be in pristine condition. The residents are comfortable and relaxed whenever we arrive.
Mary and her staff continually work with mom’s problems until a solution is reached, allowing her to remain in this gracious environment instead of having to be moved into a nursing home.

We want to express our gratitude for the exemplary care that my mother, Elsie Mahaffey, received at your facility.
Old age can be a hard thing for any of us but add in Alzheimer’s/Dementia and it becomes a nightmare. Over the years of her disease we have had occasion to deal with assisted living facilities, nursing homes, memory care units, rehabilitation facilities, foster homes and hospitals. All of them claimed to have the best interests of the patients or residents as their main concern. Some of them were more successful displaying that than others.
Your facility is hands down the best that we encountered in those long difficult years. An almost perfect blend of professionalism and compassionate care impressed our entire family. We always felt that Elsie was safe and well looked after. She put on much need weight after joining your family home due to the excellent food prepared on site and served fresh in family style. The living areas were always spotlessly clean and the atmosphere happy and light. Her special needs never seemed to be a problem or annoyance and were treated as very minor challenges.
Best of all were the actions of you and all your staff. Sincere loving compassion was the norm for you and all the staff we had contact with.
We are grateful.
If you are ever in need of a reference for someone who may be wondering if they should entrust their beloved elder to your care, feel free to have them contact us.
With fond regards
Denny and Margaret Mahaffey
